Email Verification Template

Help a new user confirm control of an email address with a clear, time-limited link or code. Explain why verification is needed and what to do if the account was not theirs.

Verification email preview

Choose one primary verification method per message. This link-based example can be adapted to include a code when your flow supports both.

Subject: Verify your {app_name} email address Hello {name}, Confirm this email address to finish setting up your account: {verification_url} This link expires on {expiry_date}. If you did not create an account, you can ignore this message. {company_name}

Features and use cases

Use link verification when the recipient is already reading email and can continue in a browser. Use a one-time code when the product has a code-entry step or the link cannot be opened on the same device. State what the action unlocks, whether the message can be ignored, and how to request another verification message.

Do not combine a code and a link by default if that makes it unclear which action is required. Align the message with the account state: sending an email is not proof that the address was verified.

Technology and implementation

The preview is plain-text copy. The email template library also provides HTML and plain-text formats; use a multipart alternative when your mail service supports it. There is no dependency or install step. Copy the content into your transactional email provider and substitute values on your server at send time.

Use an unpredictable, purpose-bound verification token over HTTPS. Enforce expiry and single use, and avoid logging full verification URLs. Test resend behavior, expired links, already-verified accounts, and email clients that wrap long URLs.

Customization and accessibility

Replace {app_name}, {name}, {verification_url}, {expiry_date}, and {company_name}. Make the time wording match server policy; provide a safe fallback for missing names. In HTML, use a descriptive link label, a logical heading, visible focus, and readable contrast. Keep the destination domain recognizable.

Preview with images disabled, on a narrow screen, and in the major email clients your audience uses. A textual preview is included here instead of a client-specific screenshot.

License and limitations

Adapt the wording to your registration policy and localization. The sample does not create accounts, verify tokens, measure deliverability, or enforce legal requirements; those responsibilities belong to your application and email provider.

No separate license is displayed for this sample. Review the Terms of Use and any resource-specific terms before reuse or redistribution. No software package or third-party artwork is included here.
